Westmead Innovation Quarter, Sydney

Key Achievements:

- Hybrid Car Park Management including Paid Public Parking

- Tenant Pooling & Self-Managed Parking Administration

- Casual Tenant Community (Promo Rates)

Innovation Quarter (iQ) is a multi-disciplinary research hub that allows collaboration between business, health and research, located in the heart of Westmead. The property houses three of the University’s renowned research institutes – the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development, NICM Health Research Institute and the Translational Health Research Institute, alongside key tenant Telstra Health.

To align with its visionary footprint, iQ were seeking a future-proof smart parking solution. InterOffice designed and deployed OpusPark to support secure Tenant access (reserved & pooling), Casual Tenant Community (paid) and Public Parking (paid). All three services are underpinned by licence plate recognition, Mobile APP and real time car park management technology.

Flexibility to ‘flex’ the car park stacking and occupancy allocation is a key requirement for iQ, given the collaboration nature of this asset. Deploying a software centric offering supports this requirement as the Building Management can independently manage parking allocations as demand / supply changes. Furthermore, as this is Stage One of Three builds for this site, building flexibility into the car parking offering is critical to enable a seamless transition during future construction phases.

Tenant Community Parking provided an additional tenant service enabling staff to access casual ‘ pay as you go’ parking. Retail staff and visiting research staff continue to benefit from this offering.

Tenant Pooling and self-managed administration via the Tenant Admin Portal are another feature valued by the iQ Tenants. One Medical Tenant who have Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) and Rostered Staffing was able to self-administer pooling for the tenancy, enabling greater utilisation of the licenced car bays and seamless, secure access.

OpusPark’s modular access caters for tailored permissions, delivering enhanced security to this mixed use car park.

OpusPark optimised car bay administration and bay utilisation for iQs users via its smart digital parking solution and delivered on the Building Management’s objective to provide flexible, secure parking to all stakeholders and a new revenue stream for the asset.
